Financial Preparedness
How does taking care of your finances help you to be prepared?
Well, when we are dilligent with our money we are better enabled to serve the body of Christ and give of our resources. Just think, when you are living paycheck to paycheck, how
comfortable do you feel giving away what little you have? How much more motivated are we to give generously when we know our family has been taken care of? How good does it feel when we are responsible with our finances and God blesses us with more so we can take care of His children?
1 Timothy 6:17-19 As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.

2 Corinthians 9:8-12 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. As it is written, “He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.” He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God.
God blesses us financially so that we may bless others. When we abound in riches and provisions we should never store it up for ourselves because our real treasure is in heaven. Instead we should take our extra and supply it to those in need so that God is honored by their thanksgiving.
BE FAITHFUL IN THE LITTLE THINGS
Luke 16:9- “And I say to you, make friends for yourselves by unrighteous mammon, that when you fail, they may receive you into an everlasting home. 10 He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much. 11 Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the trueriches? 12 And if you have not been faithful in what is another man’s, who will give you what is your own?
It seems to me, God is preparing us to handle His riches... When we aren't responsible with what wealth we have here, it shows God how we would handle things in His kingdom that is to come. I don't know about you, but I want God to trust me with the big things... I don't want to end up being someone with very little responsibilites when He has promised us to be queens and kings.
So what can we do to avoid lacking?
SEEK GOD FIRST
Give and seek God first.
Seems like an oxy moron, but that is what God wants to see from us. Give and you will get more. Be selfish and you will get nothing. Focus on Him and He will bless you, focus on money and you will find yourself at the root of evil.
Matthew 6:31- Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Proverbs 11:24-25- One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want. Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.
FINANCIAL BLESSINGS ARE FROM GOD
And just remember, when we do increase and are blessed, it is God who did it. It is by His power and will, not ours. We should always give thanks when we find ourselves in favor and never forget it is for the benefit of others and not so we can boast.
Deuteronomy 8:17- Beware lest you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gotten me this wealth.’ 18 You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth,
